The brain, neuroplasticity and the effectiveness of osteopathy in treating patients with concussion, head and spinal cord injuries (Endocranial spasms, stage I)
Philippe Druelle DO
Many of our patients have had injuries in car accidents, at work or in sports, or children have had difficult births or intra-uterine compressions, etc... All of these patients present sequalae, disabilities and different types of pain that can last for years. This seminar will provide you with solutions, whether the symptoms are moderate, acute or chronic. This course is very useful in our daily practice to treat cerebral dysfunctions following concussion and head trauma. It will enable you to improve brain dynamics, vascularization and ventricular activity following a traumatic lesion causing numerous symptoms.
PROGRAM
Objectives:
This seminar is practice-oriented. It enables participants to directly assess and treat the dynamics of the different parts of the brain, its functional activity specifically and globally, as well as the cord, enabling better health of the functions dependent on these regions, both physically and behaviorally, improving neuroplasticity and the disappearance of symptomatology. The aim is for each participant to be able to use the content of the course in his or her own practice to bring relief to patients.
Program content:
Philippe Druelle, D.O., founder of this approach, is internationally recognized for his work in osteopathy and for the techniques he has developed since 1982 to restore cerebral physiology to health.
Theoretical part
Description of the elements required for good neuronal plasticity. Definition of the five different types of endocranial spasm (traumatic, emotional, clinical applications for infants, young children and adolescents (neuro-functional, cognitive, behavioral disorders), transgenerational and civilizational influences that also modify the patient's neuropsychology). Neuroplasticity as an important factor in chronic and acute pain and osteopathic outcomes The brain's systemic activity and self-regulation (experimentation with Yuri Moskalenko PhD and Alexander Chepolvanikov PhD at the Shvenov Institute). The importance of VASOMOTION. Preparing for osteopathic treatment by ensuring good cerebral vascularization. List of strategic sites to check. Presentation of a model for understanding the relationship between the biomechanics of the dura mater and its attachments versus the biodynamics of the fluids, balance and bioenergy The notion of anchoring and its importance after trauma (the notion of inertia and injury).
Practical part
Assessment methods, objective and subjective signs and their importance according to the patient's health, to build a treatment plan best suited to the patient's condition. Checking strategic sites related to cerebral vascularization +++ Cerebral hemisphere and corpus callosum dynamics. Mobility of each lobe and synergy with the lamina terminalis according to embryological development. How to develop palpation and the notion of a sphere, and how to adapt this concept to each level of work. the dynamics of the lateral ventricles and the limbic and thalamic systems, the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, the 3rd ventricle and cerebral self-regulation. Post-concussion regeneration techniques for the brainstem and autonomic nervous system, including the vagus. Lateral ventricles and increased systemic activity of the brain. Synergy of different tracts including the internal capsule and interactions with the fissures and insula. The importance of the carotid siphon and vascularization of the middle cerebral artery. The free flow of fluids and energies and vascular dynamics in the brain and spinal cord. The fluid waves of the cord according to Ann Wales DO Techniques to regenerate the tissue matrix after concussion, to restore the circulatory pump between the superficial and deep vessels. How to guide these patients towards health and clinical methodology Target organ treatments. For example, the links between brain and heart, intestines, liver etc....
Concussion-related topics.
We added to the program the self-regulatory system of the vagus nerve, which anastomoses with numerous brain sites and nerves in the brain such as V and VII, as well as the care of target organs that may become dysfunctional as a result of endocranial spasm its role in pain, the inflammatory process and immune defenses Introduction of the role of emotions and stress in the treatment of concussion. The psycho-visceral aspect, or the influence of viscera on brain dynamics. The importance of vascularization and spinal cord compression in chronic symptoms. The importance of fluid flow and CSF in brain tissue regeneration. Integration of our work on a case-by-case basis. Tips for successful treatment of the encephalon, depending on the patient's severity. This is an exciting workshop, as it allows you to interact with the different parts of the nervous system in a precise, rational and efficient way. This workshop focuses on methodology and clinical applications to facilitate the integration of this program into daily practice. Part of this teaching will also address the physical and emotional imprints that limit the creation of new circuits in the brain matter. The relationship between tissue memory and the patient's true nature will also be taught in the second course on endocranial spasms and brain damage due to stress and emotions, stage 2. The date of the next Stage 2 course will be announced shortly.

Brain-abdominal brain -microbiota and patient health Inflammation and psycho-emotional balance (Enteric nervous system, vagal and phrenic systems, links to limbic system).)
Definition of the brain-gut-microbiota axis
The brain-gut-microbiota axis is bidirectional, with both poles interdependent. The microbiota consists of bacteria, microbes, fungi, viruses, and worms, sometimes allies and sometimes adversaries of homeostasis. The microbiota produces and stimulates neurotransmitter production, and the brain directly affects the health of the microbiota. In full swing since 2009, research continues with equal vigor and even greater therapeutic potential.
Course overview
In this revamped course, the limbic and vagal systems and pro-inflammatory mechanisms become tools to counter imbalance and enable the body's adaptability and self-regulation! The Brain-Gut-Microbiota Axis (BGMA) as it relates to mental health, anxiety, and depression provides an understanding of our human complexity. This hands-on course provides osteopaths with the necessary knowledge and techniques of the Brain-Gut-Microbiota Axis to apply this knowledge in their practice. Through these systems, we will see the osteopathic dysfunctions associated with the emotional disorders of BGMA.
The Canadian gastroenterologist G. Devroede reminds us that the abdominal brain, the second brain, expresses "what the subject cannot name. An integrated vision, not only of the base, of the abdomino-pelvic brain, but of the whole being".
For example, an inflammation of the digestive tract generates a vagal afference that bombards the limbic and paralimbic systems: mental adaptability deteriorates. With the osteopathic keys, we target the tissue cause (vertebral, organic, vascular-nervous) of this dysfunction, according to the evolution observed. A system can be hyperactivated, hypoactivated or reactive. It's up to us to direct the matter.
"Thus we have the union of spirit, matter and life, that is, the human being." (Still, 1899)
In this course, osteopathy will be combined with the latest research on ACIM and the practice of specific techniques to unlock the phreno-vagal system at the tissue, fluid and energetic levels. The abdomino-pelvic brains will have their key techniques and the limbic system will benefit from an innovative approach developed during my Ph.D. thesis (2009-2011) and refined by the practice and shared knowledge of Philippe Druelle, Geneviève Forget, Dr. Paul Lee, Robert Fulford, Gérald Lamb, Antony Chila.
Seminar objectives:
This seminar will enable the osteopath to work with precision on people suffering from anxiety, chronic stress, digestive disorders and dysbiosis. 5 general objectives:
- To recognize and know when and how to intervene in hyper-activated thinking that is detrimental to the brain-gut-microbiota axis.
- To recognize and know when and how to intervene in primary osteopathic vagal dysfunction.
- Recognize and know when and how to intervene in abdomino-pelvic brain dysfunction and the presence of inflammation.
- Recognize and know when and how to intervene in the area accessible to the osteopath and that which may be causing the dysfunction.
- Experience specific endocranial work related to abdominal and emotional dysfunction, thought or chronic stress based on psychogastroneuroimmunology.
Program
The Phrenic and Vagal Systems
Enterochromaffin cells communicate with the vagal system to transmit information from commensal bacteria in the digestive tract to the brain. This bidirectional system, from vagal nuclei to intestinal bacteria, must be free of osteopathic dysfunction! The myofascial, fluid and energetic work of the vagus nerve; its nuclei, parietal, cervical, thoracic and sub-abdominal parts (according to Dr. P. Lee, Ph. Druelle, D. Laberge). Myofascial, fluid and energetic work of the phrenic nerve, from the medulla to its thoracic and subdiaphragmatic course. Explanation and palpation of vagal and phrenic afferents and efferents Integration of the phreno-vagal system into overall health and anti-inflammatory self-regulatory potential
Abdominopelvic brains
The neurotransmitters or their precursors produced in the intestine must be able to reach the central nervous system. We'll therefore learn how to stimulate the intestinal barrier (linked to the blood-brain barrier) and thus free up the fluidic aspect (arteriovenous and lymphatic). The work of the enteric nervous system becomes essential here.
- Osteopathic approach to fluid stasis via the hepatic portal vein
- Study and osteopathic technique of gut-associated lymphatic tissue (GALT)
- Study and osteopathic treatment of leaky gut
- Understanding how to intervene in the pro-inflammatory loop
The limbic system
The specificity of the approach is consistent with excellent clinical commentary. Initiating deprogramming of the negative feedback loop with the goal of defusing the neural habit and leading to consciousness is, of course, daring. But the hand of the osteopath can guide you to a balance that brings you a little closer to your path.
- Philippe Druelle's technic of the lateral ventricles in the dynamics of the brain-intestine-microbiota axis
- Description and practical application of the prerequisites for working with the brain
- Description and dialog with the amygdala of the limbic system, the insula of the para-limbic system and the cingulate cortex.
- Explanation and palpation of the hyperdialogue of the target brain areas in cases of anxiety and digestive pain.
- Osteopathic keys for working with the negative feedback loops of the brain-intestine-microbiota axis to intervene at the level of inflammation and psycho-immuno-digestive health.
Dive with me into the extraordinarily vibrant, beautiful and complex world of the brain-intestine-microbiota axis, the world that defines you and transforms us!
Conclusion
Benoit Champagne DO's work over many years has been remarkable, touching on many areas of abdominal dysfunction and spinal health. Psychological equilibrium, inflammation and the immune system all contribute to a person's physiological terrain being healthy and better able to respond to all the care we give to patients. This seminar is very important if our treatments are to be effective. Benoit Champagne is highly regarded in Canada and Europe. He has just returned from the European symposium, where his course was much appreciated.
An essential seminar for progress.
Brain-Gut-Biota Axis I - Summary
This hyper-stimulating course will add to your clinical practice numerous palpatory tools and cutting-edge knowledge of the latest research on the brain-intestine-biota (BIB) axis. The first part takes an in-depth osteopathic approach to the vagal complex (nuclei, nerves and activation) and phrenic linked to intestinal porosity and the microbiota. The second part delves into the world of the abdomino-pelvic brains to maximize the transport of neurotransmitters (dopamine, gaba, serotonin, etc.) or their precursors (tryptophan). The third part, endocranial work linked to the bidirectional CIB axis, enables the practical application of the relationship between these neurotransmitters, emotional charges and neuro-immune disruptors. A logical sequence emerges, from a disturbance of the charged or crystallized part of the encephalon, to a body zone of stasis or inflammation disrupting the influx (afferent or efferent) of the vagus and phrenic nerves! In this way, the osteopath can travel within a non-linear chronology of memory, imprints and hyperactivation, to release the essence of the person
Presentation by Professor Benoit Champagne, D.O. (QC)
Benoit Champagne is a clinician osteopath, professor and international lecturer (Can, USA,Ger). It transmits the osteopathic approach of the brain-gut-biota axis through the knowledge of the old and the modern osteopath... and what he rediscovers. His mix of theory and practice allows for effective and complete clinical integration.

The concept of Embryocinesis®
Manuality and Therapeutic Posture in Osteopathy. A great way to become a therapist
This workshop is open to all osteopaths D.O. interested in improving their palpation skills and expand the field of their manual competence. The AMI-DO method teaches 5 tools to understand the principles and fundamentals of palpation across structural and energetic levels. This is a hands-on workshop where you can discover and improve your manual skills while enhancing your sense of well-being. The many practices will enhance your perception and effectiveness.
Course description
Day 1: Osteopathic manuality.
The education of an osteopath's hands is a daily apprenticeship that continues throughout their professional career. The sensitivity of the hand is interdependent on somatic, psychic, emotional, mental and spiritual factors. We will develop 5 tools of manuality: - Different qualities of the hands to acquire the perception of the different somatic and energetic levels, - The use of breathing techniques as a tool of manuality. - Somatic and energetic anchoring to ground and center the osteopath. - Learning to observe posteriorly to manage the therapist's emotions. - Practice of meditation to increase the awareness of the midline and connect with the way of the heart.".
Day2: The Therapeutic’s Posture. The path to become a therapist.
How to move from practitioner to therapist. The therapeutic’s posture relies on 5 fundamental attitudes: Physical posture as a conscious verticality. Therapeutic listening, both psycho-emotional and verbal. Self-encounter through meditative introspection and mind-control techniques. Awareness of limitative beliefs and how to improve them. Through the powerful practice of those 5 attitudes, we will ignite a transformative journey for the therapist.
Day3: Embryonic motility or Embryocinesis-Concept®.
We'll dig into a special kind of motility: Embryocinesis. This embryonic motility is a micro-movement of a tissular, fluidic and energetic nature based on embryonic organogenesis. Learning to palpate this specific motility, different from PRM, enables us to address our patient's vital energy and their original harmony. Embryocinesis lies in-between biomechanics and biodynamics. It is the osteopathic interface. The Embryo has created its body through tissue and organo-visceral harmony within the motility of human morphogenic fields. The osteopathic practice of Embryocinesis liberates the life forces and manifests the harmony of the vital potential of the patient's Light Midline. The practice of Embryocinesis balance the Life forces, and correct mobility restrictions as they were necessary adaptations to maintain the verticality of the being. We will learn a simple and effective protocol for both assessment and treatment. Starting with the fundamentals of embryonic motility, we will learn to recognize it in ourselves and our patients.
Day 4: Synthesis of the 5 tools through the Way of the Heart.
The Manuality and Posture of the Therapist open up important therapeutic spaces. The osteopath develops an essential quality: Presence. It is through the Way of the Heart that manuality reaches its full potential. The osteopath's attunement with his patient will enable him to refine the quality of empathy. We will open the therapist to a bio-dynamic vibratory perception, enabling him to help patients achieve harmony within themselves. During the previous 3 days, we will have experimented several degrees of manual sensitivity in order to perceive the different levels of the body. We'll have learned to perceive embryonic motility and discern the tissular, fluidic and energetic levels, and then balance some of the vibratory quality on different realities. We won't have time to cover all the vibratory frequencies of the body's different planes. That's for another time! Biodynamic perception will find its place in this apprenticeship of therapeutic perceptive levels.
Conclusion: Those 4 days will enlighten new spaces of knowledge in Presence.
In every seminar, each individual discovers their own unique path. The path I will guide with the group will be distinct and responsive to each person's truth and sharing.
We look forward to meeting you!
